 Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training Program

Our highly acclaimed Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training Program combines the Classical repertoire with contemporary and advanced teaching techniques plus information typically found in special population/injury/rehab continuing education courses. We offer in-depth lecture teaching courses along with many hours of personal Director level supervision and on-going student teaching assessments to fully prepare our prospective teachers to work with any type of client including those with medical conditions. What's more, we've facilitated the learning process by integrating the key foundation lecture sections of Anatomy, Biomechanics and our Fundamental Movement Principles. This integration cleary details how and why Pilates exercises really work. The 454 hour Comprehensive Teaching Program includes 120 hours of supervised course lecture, 305 hours of sef-practice, observation, student to student teaching and apprentice teaching, and 40 hours of personally supervised teaching. Why Our Program?

Our Mission

To produce Pilates teachers that are well-versed about the kinesiological principles developed by Joseph Pilates as well as implementing new science and information from the 21st century. This combination of education will prepare our students to provide safe and effective sessions for every type of client they encounter. Further, to guide potential students towards becoming PMA certified teachers.

 Our Faculty

Experienced, dedicated and forward thinking, led by Studio Owner and Director Ernie Fossa and Teacher Training Program Director Kim Fielding. They have a combined 30 years of experience teaching Anatomy,Biomechanics, the  Classical Pilates repertoire,  Contemporary and Advanced Movement and working with Clients with medical conditions.

Our Integrated and Comprehensive Teaching Approach

We offer a comprehensive and progressive way of learning and teaching the Pilates method of exercise  by integrating Anatomy, Biomechanics and our unique Fundamental Movement Principles.  This integrated foundation then threads throughout both the entire Mat and Equipment choreography and facilitates your learning process to better help you understand  how and why the  Pilates method of exercise really works. This process will develop you into becoming  a more well- rounded and truly advanced Pilates Teacher.

Supervised Teaching from our Directors

Many of your required practice student teaching hours in our program will be personally supervised and assessed by both our Program Directors Ernie Fossa and Kim Fielding. 

Free use of our studio for your required practice hours.

Included in your tuition is the availability to all of your required Self-Practice, Observation, Student Teaching and Apprentice Teaching. So you do not pay extra for the use of our studio to complete your required hours to attain your certificate.

Admission Requirements

Mat Program Requirements:

Prospective Mat Program Students must:

-Meet with the Program Director to review the Mat manual to fully understand the details and the level of learning the program is offering.

-Must have the basic knowledge of Classical Pilates Mat exercises. Without the basic knowledge, they will be required to take a minimum of 5 Mat Classes at a cost of $115 at Gramercy Pilates NYC before they can be considered for admission to the Mat Program.

–Must be at least 18 years of age.

–Must have a high school diploma.

Equipment Program Requirements:

Prospective Equipment Program Students must:

-Meet with the Program Director to review the Equipment manual to fully understand the details and the level of learning the program is offering.

- Must have a basic knowledge of classical Pilates equipment exercises. Without the basic knowledge they will be required to take a minimum of five equipment classes at a cost of $200 at Gramercy Pilates NYC before they can be considered for the teacher training program.

-Must have past or present enrollment in the Gramercy Pilates NYC Comprehensive Mat Program or another Mat program that is from a registered PMA Pilates school Approval Program.

–Must be at least 18 years of age.

–Must have a high school diploma.

 

*Please Note: Gramercy Pilates NYC does not guarantee employment, certification or success as a Pilates Teacher upon completion of its Mat and/or Equipment Teacher Training Program.

Mat and Equipment Program Details

Mat Program

      Tuition Includes:

  • 48 Course Lecture class hours. 
  • Mat Manual (145 pages fully bound in 4 color)
  • 5 Free Mat Classes
  • 60 hours of self practice, teaching, observation and apprentice teaching hours of which 10 teaching hours being supervised by our Directors.
  • Student Assessment Reports, Written and Manual Tests.
  • Free use of our studio for your practice teaching.

      Lecture Sessions (48 hours)

  • History of Joseph Pilates
  • The Skeleton and Muscular Systems
  • Integration of Anatomy, Biomechanics, and Movement
  • Effective Cueing and The Art of Observation
  • Fundamental Movement Principles
  • Classical Mat Choreography with Modifications.

Equipment Program

     Tuition Includes:

  • 72 Course Lecture class hours.
  • Equipment Manual (250 pages full bound in 4 color)
  • 5 Free Equipment Classes
  • 285 hours of student self practice, teaching, observation,  assisting and apprentice hours of which 30 teaching hours being supervised by our Directors.
  • Student Assessment Reports, Written and Manual Tests.
  • Free use of our studio for all of your practice teaching.

     Lecture Sessions (72 hours)

  • Beginner to Advanced Classical Equipment Choreography
  • Reformer, Cadillac, Chair Barrel and other Props
  • Teaching Methods and Techniques for every level.
  •  Client Facilitation and Manual Teaching.
  • Special Populations/Clients with Medical Conditions.
